Established in 1999, Calculus are market-leaders in the provision of business systems to the independent electrical retail industry. The company develops, installs and supports its own software solutions for in-store, online and mobile applications, along with offering a complete range of both IT hardware and VoIP telecommunications services.

Role Description

The role is an office-based role in either our Support or Web Department, although there may be an opportunity to move to a combined office/field engineer role in the future.

Training is given on both our in-house software platforms, and the use of SQL Server, although prior experience of SQL server / relational databases, and Windows desktop/server platforms is an advantage. Experience in the electrical retail industry is also an advantage.

Duties of the Support role include:
  • Taking telephone calls from customers to log new issues and progress existing issues
  • Resolving customer queries through a combination of internal documentation and knowledge of our systems
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest changes in new releases of software and interrogate customer system databases
  • Support and configuration of Windows-based clients and servers, to the extent required to support our software
  • Support and configuration of routers and inter-site VPNs
  • Customer training within our offices
Duties of the Web Development role include:
  • Building responsive, mobile-first websites, with good-looking user interfaces in HTML/HTML5 and CSS/CSS3.
  • Magento layout - XML and Frontend
  • Working with Magento 1 and/or 2
  • PHP
  • Building consumer facing web applications
  • Working on projects in a team or individually
  • Taking telephone calls from customers to log new issues and progress existing issues
  • Resolving customer queries through a combination of internal documentation and knowledge of our systems
Preferred Skills
  • Good team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Experience or exposure to SQL Server is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of SQL Server 2008 upwards
  • Experience with Magento theme development.
