A F Thomas and Sons LTD is a long-established Newport business which was founded in 1932 by Albert Frederick Thomas.
During the early 1930’s Albert was an electrician working at Newport docks, and had a life-long ambition to open an electrical shop of his own.
Albert’s expertise and knowledge of electrical was recognised by Royalty, as he was awarded the King’s Medal for this involvement with the invention of sonar. He was awarded £100 for his contribution, which was used to open his store in Pillgwenlly Newport....
