GDPR & NCompass

With the GDPR deadline fast approaching, we've been busy working to update NCompass to make life easier for you. Some of the changes include:

  • Customer Details now indicats if a customer has given permission for you to send marketing, instead of saying they have refused permission.
  • We've added extra options for Telephone marketing, and for you to record when and how a customer has given you consent.
  • Until you specifically mark a customer as having given consent, they will be excluded by default from marketing exports
  • Notifications to remind users to capture the customers consent if it has not been done for a duration of time

We've also added a quick way to record consent - just click Change... in the Customer Details window to update it:

  • Print a consent form for the customer to sign.
  • Record how they provide their consent.
  • This will automatically update the customer details, and log when they last provided consent

If you’d like your own customised Consent Form, please email Support with an example, and they will provide more information.

If you have a scanner you may wish to scan in the consent form to save against the customer as an attachment – Support can help you with this. Alternatively, we recommend filing the Consent Form against the Customer ID, so it is easy to find again in future.

You can export your customers for marketing using Reports > Customer > Export. New filters in here allow you to export just those who have provided consent for the method you wish to use to contact them.

Before the GDPR deadline we'd recommend that you email all your customers to update their marketing permissions while you still can. To do this in NCompass go to Reports -> Customer -> Export

Select the filters you want to use and then click the 'Browse' button

Select 'Desktop' from the left hand menu and then click 'Save'. After which click the 'Output' button. The file will then be generated and saved to your desktop. Open the file with Microsoft Excel to view it's content.

You can then send an email (BCCing in the email addresses) to all your customer or alternatively use a newsletter platform such as mailchimp to contact all your customers.
